Around 11pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, a bullet went through the ceiling at the Regents Park residence hall at the University of Hartford, missing a student who was doing her homework on the floor above. The report said that the shooting was unintentional. Have I become so old that my first reaction wasn't the intent of the perptrator, but why was there a person with a gun in the dormitory ?
I can't image the parents of the students accepting that the dormitories aren't secure and that no one may bring, enter, or possess a firearm. Any school, whether public, private, elementary or graduate, has the responsibility for the safety of the students even before the quality iof the courses.
