Ponderer

This is the first day of my blog. I can't believe that at 68 years old I have a blog. Chat with you soon. Carrie
Can somebody please explain the defense plea of “innocent by reason of insanity”? Why isn’t it “guilty by reason of insanity”? That way the person would get mental treatment and then have some consequences in prison. When you are declared “innocent by reason of insanity” the person gets mental help and then is released. What are the consequences? Where is the justice to the victim? The present plea is another way of getting a “get out of jail free card”. The plea becomes an excuse rather than an explanation. There needs to be consequences. School children are often using excuses for their misbehavior. There always is an explanation and there should always be a consequence.

Open Letter to the Children of Abraham
For over 5000 years, the children of Abraham have been, as little children, squabbling and fighting. One side will proclaim that they will erase the other from the face of the Earth. The other side tries to defend itself. All sides lose and innocents are killed. Will we ever learn to respect each other and value the fact that there are differences? I want to ask those that believe that anyone who does not follow their particular teachings are infidels and must be eliminated. Do you really want a world where everyone is alike? What new ideas can come from everyone being in exact step? We all must live on this planet. This planet can be a diamond with each facet contributing to the brilliance of the whole. Think for a moment what life could be like if we all got along and respected each others’ differences. What a wondrous world we could have. Think of the inventions, the medical cures, the new ideas, the music, the art and solutions to problems of global warming, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, drought and floods. If this is our goal, we can make it happen. Must we be doomed to blame and shame? Must we continue to fight each other because we are different? Children of Abraham (Jews, Muslims and Christians) think about our children. Look into their eyes and see the possibilities of their future. Don’t doom them to the same bully tactics, the same intolerances, the same greed and hatred that grows like a cancer in us. Give them a chance.
